Road Bridges Under Seismic Fragility Assessment Accounting for Structural Condition
ROBUST aims to develop a condition-dependent methodology for seismic fragility assessment of existing road bridges in Croatia. By integrating structural condition, historical design characteristics, field investigations and advanced numerical modelling, the project seeks to improve the reliability of seismic fragility assessment and support bridge management.

Duration
36 months · 5 work packages
Research focus
From bridge stock to condition-dependent fragility curves
Bridge typologies
Representative structural typologies of the Croatian road bridge stock, considering construction periods, design characteristics and structural systems.
Structural condition
Visual inspections and non-destructive testing provide information on the actual condition of existing bridges.
Numerical modelling
Nonlinear finite-element models, calibrated with field measurements, incorporate structural condition and material properties.
Fragility assessment
Nonlinear dynamic analyses lead to condition-dependent seismic fragility curves and practical recommendations.
